School Supplies for Those in Need

The end of summer is a prime “back to school” time when we think about school supplies for our students. The Lake Whitney Ministerial Alliance and Salvation Army are here to help.

Did you know that Whitney ISD has a 60% Economically Disadvantaged rate (TEA designation) and Blum's is 55%? More than 60 kids at every grade level cannot afford to buy all of their school supplies.

Teachers are given school supplies through the "Stuff the Teachers' Closets" and the Salvation Army "Stuff the Bus" programs.

LWMA continues its annual "Stuff the Teachers' Closets" program for the Whitney Community. Through your donations, LWMA is able to purchase supplies for the teachers who discreetly distribute to those who cannot afford them. Those supplies are delivered to the schools at the end of July before school starts.

The Salvation Army Service Unit, in collaboration with Wal-Mart nationwide, invited each community to help them "Stuff The Bus" with school supplies for local children.
